October 2021 Update

Homeowners’ Association News

AGM 2021: The NDHA board of Directors has called for the 2021 AGM to take place on November 9th, 2021. The AGM is necessary and mandated; it must take place for the NDHA to continue to operate. The NDHA is required to have at least 10% of the membership represented via proxy or in person at an AGM.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic situation and for the safety of all, the NDHA Board of Directors has made the decision to hold the “in person” option for the 2021 AGM using the video teleconferencing format called ZOOM. All NDHA members will receive their AGM Notice and Proxy materials by email (if we have your email address) or by post-mail in early October. Please review these materials and reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns. If you cannot join the Zoom meeting, we ask that you complete and return your proxy vote at least 24 hours prior to the AGM date.

Projects 2021: The NDHA hopes that you had an enjoyable summer and had a chance to use our beautiful parks and pathways at some point during the warm months! In addition to regular landscape maintenance, the NDHA also initiated some upgrades within the community for all to enjoy.  We have shared project details via the Ridge Review and our website throughout the summer.  Please take a moment to read our monthly news updates that are archived on our website home page for more detailed information.

Over the summer, ULS did a thorough assessment of the landscaping installations (foliage and hardscapes) within Discovery Ridge.  From that report we will identify and prioritize areas for remediation projects over the next several years. October is our transition period from summer to winter and you will see the ULS crews taking care of the typical fall needs as we wind down the season. Barring an early snowfall, litter pick-up, pruning, leaf clean up and various other tasks will be done throughout the community to prepare for winter.

Outstanding Fees: The 2020 NDHA fee of $307 was due on June 29th.  We would like to thank our members who have paid their fee on time, and ask that those few who have not, please remit immediately. Payment options can be found on our website at ndha.ca  You can log onto your account via our website to check if you have paid and are up to date, or contact us at NDHAmembership@ndha.ca for help with your account. Please reference your property address when you email us.

Can you Help? All the above is managed by 10 member-volunteers who are also your neighbors in Discovery Ridge.  They meet monthly and work diligently behind the scenes to ensure that things continue to run smoothly.  A few of your 2020/21 NDHA board members will be retiring this year. This means that we are looking for a up to three new Directors. If being on a board isn’t your cup of tea but you still want to help, we are also in need of some awesome neighbors to assist us as committee members. If you have skills and knowledge in landscaping/design/plants, etc., or are someone who enjoys writing and could help with our Ridge Review articles, please reach out by contacting general@ndha.ca if you can join the team!

We are quite proud of how our community looks and hope you are as well. If you happen to notice an area that might need attention such a bed being missed or damage incurred due to storms or other factors, please let the NDHA know.  We are always happy to hear from our members; please access our website at www.ndha.ca to send an email or call us at 403-237-9595.
