September 2019 Update

Happy September! The NDHA hopes that you had a wonderful summer and a chance to use our beautiful parks and pathways at some point during the season. If not, September brings a different kind of beauty with fall colors and the change of season. We have beautiful vistas right on our doorstep- enjoy!

Summer Landscaping Update: Despite the seemingly constant rainfall, we did manage to accomplish some significant landscaping upgrades within the community.  The Xeriscape median project on Discovery Ridge Lane is complete and looks wonderful! Additionally, ULS has completed the warranty replanting of the failed shrubs and perennials on the hill below the roundabout; it looks much nicer now. Mulch has been added to medians along DR Blvd, DR Hill, DR Vista Point, the front entrance bed and around the entrance waterfall.  The main waterline break was repaired, the irrigation was up and running, and the waterfall has been operating smoothly. The entrance planters are colorful and welcoming and our first round of pruning has been completed. We have been busy!

ULS bedding crews were dispatched in August to our many other green spaces in an effort to get caught up on weeding after the substantial rain we received. The unsettled weather did disrupt the usual landscape maintenance schedules this year, so if you have any areas that you feel need attention please let us know.  A photo and explanation of area of concern is greatly appreciated!

Delinquent Fees Update: A large number of residents have not yet paid the $307 fee for 2019 which was due June 29, 2019. Immediate payment is required. Past due payments are charged interest at a rate of 18% per annum. The NDHA has a strict policy for the collection of unpaid fees. Accounts in arrears will be turned over the NDHA lawyer for collection, at which time significant legal fees will also be incurred by the homeowner.

Please keep in mind that this is an encumbrance on your land title and therefore you are legally bound to pay these fees annually. Our community relies on everyone to pay their fee on time so that we can pay our contractors on time. Volunteer efforts required to follow up and request past due payments is frustrating and could be put to much better use.  Payment options can be found on our website at ndha.ca  You may contact the Treasurer at ndhaaccts@gmail.com if you are unsure of your payment status; please reference your address. Thank you to all who have paid for 2019, we appreciate it!

Request for Board Volunteers: a few of our dedicated Board members have advised us that due to personal reasons, they will not be able to continue in their NDHA roles.  We are in immediate need of a SECRETARY and TREASURER. If you are able to offer your experience in either role, please contact us at ndhageneral@gmail.com as soon as possible. Please consider volunteering, it is a great way to meet new people and to understand the importance of the NDHA to Discovery Ridge.

We would like to thank our landscape maintenance contractor, ULS, for their outstanding work within our community. Discovery Ridge is spectacular and ULS is a big part of that; we appreciate their time and effort on behalf of all our residents.

We are always happy to hear from our NDHA members; if you ever have a concern or comment and need to contact us please access our website at ndha.ca to send an email or call us at 403-237-9595.
