July 2019 Update

Thank you to those who attended the NDHA AGM on June 6th.  Your attendance and input were appreciated.  Thanks also to the residents who were unable to attend but still took the time to send in their proxy vote; by doing so you allowed the NDHA to proceed with the business of keeping our community one of the most beautiful in the city!

The AGM allowed us a chance to review with you our financial situation to date (strong) as well as speak to the work that has taken place over the past year in Discovery Ridge.  Highlights included: details of the new ELM Agreement with the City of Calgary and how changes in landscape and walkway snow maintenance responsibilities will be managed,  a conversation about the “doggy bag” dispensers installed by the NDHA (very positively received), the completion of the mulch replacement program in the greenspaces, and various smaller projects.

Also discussed were the 2019 major projects and the longer-term plans for complete remediation of the overgrown willows in the greenspace between Griffith Pond and the lower waterfall area.  The AGM minutes and presentation are posted to our website for you to review, as are the annual audited financial statements.

The NDHA would like to recognize our resigning board members who have given their time and efforts on behalf of Discovery Ridge.  A special thank you to Shannon Anderson and Carolyn Mawhinney for all you have done!  Your work was very much appreciated!

Throughout the summer you will see ULS on site working to maintain our green spaces and boulevards, as well as implementing board-approved landscaping improvements at various locations in Discovery Ridge.  Please drive with caution and SLOW DOWN when workers are present near roadways; your respect for their safety well-being is appreciated.

Finally, please note that the annual NDHA fee is now PAST DUE.  The fee for 2019 is $307.00, is a legal requirement attached to your title and was due on June 29th.  Thank you to all members who have paid their fee on time!  The NDHA is run by volunteers; chasing down late payments is a frustrating chore, and not a good use of their time.  Please visit the website and take care of your payment on-line or by cheque as soon as possible. If you are not sure of your payment status, please email our treasurer at ndhaaccts@gmail.com.

We are quite proud of how our community looks and hope you are as well. If you happen to notice an area that might need attention such a bed being missed or damage incurred due to storms or other factors, please let the NDHA know.  We are always happy to hear from our NDHA members; please access our website at www.ndha.ca to send an email or call us at 403-237-9595.

Have a wonderful summer! Safe travels to all!
